About me and the benefits of seeing me

I have been developing my clinical experience over many years and have worked with clients from all walks of life, with varying issues. I am an Accredited BACP member and have studied up to Advanced Diploma level with The Counselling Foundation in Bedford/St Albans. I completed my Certificate of Higher Education in Counselling at Cambridge University. In addition to my private practice, I work as a counsellor in a centre in Hitchin. I am also a Tutor at the Counselling Foundation. I also have over 30 years experience in the HR sector for predominately blue-chip organisations.

People can sometimes wait until they are really low, but why not get help sooner? You are likely to recover quicker if you don't leave it until you are desperate. Prevention can be better for mental health, it is good self care. Would it be good to feel calmer, sleep better, feel lighter? Maybe your communication skills could be improved? It might help you make positive changes to your life? It might improve work/life balance and make you smile more? It might make you feel more relaxed, or more assertive? It might make you feel heard, understood and be kinder to yourself?

This is the counselling room for my private practice in Shefford. A peaceful, calm environment to be yourself. Parking is available, but at your own risk. I charge £55 for a 50 minute session.

What is counselling?

Counselling can be thought of as an investment in ourselves. It is about giving time to think about the issues that are causing you concern.

Sometimes it is obvious what is causing the issue and at other times it is not clear why you might be feeling the way you do. Together looking at the whole you we can think about your current situation, but also reflect on your childhood, family culture, dreams and consider what this means to your current thinking and behaviour.

How we could work together

My role is to give you an opportunity to think. I provide a safe, confidential space to support you. I will work with you, as you go through a period of change in your life.

There are many types of counselling. I work with a psychodynamic model, which means that I work with both the conscious and unconscious feelings you may be struggling with. This means that we explore both your clear thoughts and also some of the things that might be informing your behaviour that you are not aware of.

I can support anyone over the age of 18. I do not offer couple therapy. Here are a few of the many areas I can help with . Why am I a Counsellor?

In this fast paced world we live in, I feel we miss being truly heard and having time dedicated to ourselves. Spending time with someone when they need support is a privilege. Getting to know a person really well and seeing them change in front of my very eyes is something I will never tire of. I enjoy working with people, it is rewarding to me to know that I have given a person the opportunity to improve their life.
